"Kalau ukuran tanah 10 x 10 meter, luasnya berapa meter persegi"
Tau... Bahwa hanya 1 mahasiswi yang menjawab 100 meter persegi.
Saya lanjut lagi "100 meter persegi dikali estimasi RAB 4.000.000 permeter persegi, berapa kisaran biayanya? "
Makin hening kelasnya
Wallahu a'lam
Tapi itulah pendidikan
Ok lah gasss

...
This is a true story
When I said to the students
"If the land size is 10 x 10 meters, how many square meters is it"
And suddenly the class became silent. Until I repeated the question 3 times and wrote it on the board. You know... That only 1 student answered 100 square meters.
I continued again "100 square meters multiplied by the estimated RAB of 4,000,000 per square meter, what is the estimated cost?"
The class became even quieter
It turned out that I was not the only one who felt it. 2 other lecturers in different courses also experienced it when they asked "100 divided by 4 is how much?" And none of them answered.
Not to mention the question "if the thickness of the wooden beam is 12cm, then 3/4 of the thickness of the beam is???"
It was increasingly like a deserted, uninhabited area. Some tried to reach for their cellphones and wanted to use calculators.
Oh my God, then we asked the same question "why can't you calculate without a calculator for this easy question?"
What was the answer? Surprising and sad
"We don't usually think like that, Ma'am, we are the digital generation who usually use calculators. So we are not used to calculating ourselves"
Oh oh oh sad
Knowing how to read but not understanding what is being read
Knowing numbers but not understanding what is being calculated.
If it's like this
Is the teacher wrong, or are we lecturers who are supposed to be dealing with adults instead having to go back to teaching like 1st grade elementary school children. "Come on little ones, how many are 1+1? Or if you have 10 apples and you are going to share them with 5 people, how many will each person get?"
Or can we ask the parents at home. How important is it for children starting kindergarten/elementary school to have their own gadgets, without being limited by usage hours, without being trained to grow their reasoning, logic and responsibility?
Wallahu a'lam
But that's education
In contrast, if I ask "what's viral on TikTok?" then the voices in the class are noisy, competing to explain and some don't hesitate to practice what dance moves are trending.
Okay, gasss
